What is Microsoft Access?

Microsoft Access is a well-known database management system produced by Microsoft. Microsoft Access combines Microsoft's relational Jet Database Engine with software development tools and a graphical user interface (GUI). It was first released in November 1992, so it has been around for a while.

Microsoft Access is part of the Microsoft 365 product. It is typically used by application developers and software developers to build their programs using the program's software development applications and databases. Microsoft Access comes with several main features, including Access Database Engine, Visual Basic for applications, ActiveX, coding technology and other programming tools.

Access works most efficiently with Microsoft's Windows operating system, but can be used on other operating systems and for other customizable purposes.
