(ISC)² training: the certifications for security professionals

ISC2, formerly (ISC)², is the organisation behind CISSP. It is one of the most requested certifications worldwide for security managers, architects and consultants. Holding CISSP shows you oversee information security as a whole: from policy and risk to architecture and operations.

• Certified in Cybersecurity (CC): the entry level. No work experience required. Ideal for starters and career changers. CC training €179.
• SSCP, Systems Security Certified Practitioner: for administrators who implement security in practice. One year of relevant work experience required. SSCP certkit €339.
• CISSP, Certified Information Systems Security Professional: the level of security manager and architect. Five years of work experience required in at least two of the eight domains. CISSP certkit from €339, with Practice Labs €449.

Frequently asked questions about ISC2

I do not have five years of experience yet. Can I still get CISSP?

You can already take the exam. If you pass without the required experience, you become an Associate of ISC2. You then have six years to build up the experience. A relevant degree counts for one year.

CISSP or CISM?

CISSP is broader and more technical, including architecture and operations. CISM from ISACA focuses on governing information security. Many security managers hold both.

Where do I start without experience?

With Certified in Cybersecurity (CC). Or with CompTIA Security+ if you want a broader technical foundation.
