The AZ-140 in-company training teaches your IT professionals how to plan, implement, manage and optimise Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD). You learn how to set up a complete Virtual Desktop Infrastructure in Azure, including session hosts, workspaces, applications, networking, security and monitoring. The official Microsoft course lasts 4 days and prepares for the Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty certification.
Suitable for Azure administrators and infrastructure specialists responsible for planning, implementing and managing Virtual Desktop Infrastructures in Microsoft Azure. Required prior knowledge: AZ-104 or equivalent Azure administrator experience. Minimum 4 and maximum 12 participants per group.
Day 1: Plan AVD architecture and implementation
Understanding Azure Virtual Desktop architecture, planning network and storage requirements, configuring identity and access management with Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory. Deploying session hosts via Azure Portal and ARM templates.
Day 2: Configure session hosts and user experience
Configuring Windows 10/11 multi-session and Windows Server session hosts. Implementing FSLogix profile containers for Azure Files and Azure NetApp Files. Configuring RDP properties and user settings. Implementing MSIX App Attach for application management.
Day 3: Networking, security and access
Configuring AVD networking including private endpoints and RDP Shortpath. Implementing Conditional Access and MFA. Integrating Microsoft Defender for Endpoint for session host security. Configuring Azure Firewall for AVD traffic.
Day 4: Monitoring, optimisation and disaster recovery
Configuring Azure Monitor and Log Analytics for AVD monitoring. Analysing and optimising performance. Implementing autoscaling for cost optimisation. Planning and implementing disaster recovery with Azure Site Recovery. Preparation for the AZ-140 certification exam.
